Mulan Memorial Maritime Simulation Center at Shanghai Maritime University

The Mulan Marine Simulation Memorial Building

The Mulan Marine Simulation Memorial Building was constructed in June, 2007 as a memorial toMrs. Ruth Mulan Chu Chao. It was established in the year of Mrs. Chao’s passing as a way to honor her life and commitment to higher education and philanthropy.

The Building houses the world’s first and most advanced, electronic navigational instrument training center, with 360 degrees of virtual reality simulation and training platforms to prepare the maritime leaders of tomorrow.

During a site visit to the University in 2012, Dr. James S.C. Chao and his daughter, Angela Chao were privileged to hear from the students who were gaining valuable education and skills from the navigation and marine engine simulator. A follow-up visit in 2013 yielded additional positive feedback on the Marine Simulation Memorial Building training platforms, as well as the continued advancement of Shanghai Maritime University’s educational curriculum, professional training and scientific research activities.
