New Mulan Scholarship Fund at State University of New York
Foremost Foundation Funds Maritime Leaders of the Future
The Foremost Foundation announced the establishment of a new Mulan Education Scholarship Fund for graduate students attending the National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU). The purpose of the Mulan Education Scholarship Fund is to encourage students to pursue a graduate education in the maritime industry in the United States and specifically, at the State University of New York’s Maritime College (SUNY Maritime). Through this scholarship program, the Foremost Foundation seeks to enable students who would otherwise be denied the opportunity to attend SUNY Maritime and broaden their vistas and think more globally. Mulan Scholarships are geared toward students who are committed to advanced studies, and are on a track to become the future leaders of the international shipping industry.
The Scholarship Fund covers full tuition, living expenses and an internship with the Foremost Group while the student is studying. Interning with the Foremost Group is not a requirement of the scholarship program, but is merely a mutually agreeable opportunity for those who desire it. One to two scholarships will be awarded each year. Candidates must meet all the Academy’s eligibility requirements, as well as pass a rigorous interview process with Foremost.
The Mulan Scholarship Fund at NTOU joins a portfolio of initiatives funded by the Foremost Foundation, which are focused on providing access to high level education for qualified students. When looking toward the future, it makes sense to do all that is possible to ensure a highly talented and qualified pool of maritime professionals, who can carry forward the important work of international trade through the shipping industry.
