The Summer Issue of Tradewinds focuses on gender and profiles women who have succeeded in the maritime industry despite the barriers that continue to exist. Tradewinds wanted to give voice to female executives who are leading maritime companies. One of these voices is Angela Chao, Chair and CEO of Foremost Group.

Angela said that she draws upon the strength of her parents who taught her to not be affected by other people’s misconceptions on gender. Echoing one of the themes of the article, Angela Chao suggested that female leaders such as herself have a responsibility to pave the way for future generations of women leaders.
